The Tile Club | Blue and Cream

The Tile Club gets its inspiration from a club of late 19th-century New York-based painters, sculptors, illustrators, and architects – most notably including Winslow Homer, Stanford White, and William Merritt Chase

who gathered in the city’s downtown private salons to exchange ideas and paint on ceramic tiles (like the antique Instagram of the 1880s)… Significantly, the Tile Club members were Bon Vivants who took frequent excursions to the Hamptons where they created some of America’s great works of plein air painting in the Impressionist style. With this spirit of adventure and artistic exploration.
