Through our evolution of over 20 years as a New York Authentic Brand, there have been many new beginnings.
New beginnings welcoming new friends, meeting new staff, building new client relationships, and doing what we do best which is participating in shared Life-cycle events.
What is a Life-cycle event? It’s being there when new babies are born, b’nai mitzvah, back to school shops and sending kids off to camp, and prepping for visiting day or excitedly awaiting a return home from that same trip. It’s graduations, engagements, being part of wedding and honeymoon planning, B&C for 20 years, literally, is part of the Cycle of Life. Like our clients, Blue&Cream is alive, we are always evolving, living through those experiences. In the last few years we’ve had some exciting store openings, this allowed us to welcome some key team members to join our B&C family and that has reshaped who we are as a brand. The new neighborhoods have introduced our 20 year brand to new people. With all these new beginnings, of course, come the inevitable conclusions; our Bowery store closed after 15 years, friends have moved out of the city and some staff have moved on with the next phases of their own lives. Through these goodbyes, friends have sadly been lost along the way. One thing has stayed constant, our passion for styling, curating, and representing New York.
I’ve written a few times in the last year about the Bowery closing, a store that anchored the corner of Bowery+1st for 15 years. That entire moment (15 year “moment”), now reduced to just our friends’ memories, memoires which people come everyday to share with me! Making moves post pandemic made all those endings poetic- finally opening in our natural home of the UES and moving from the East Village to The West Village has truly defined where our brand is going in the future. Introducing the insider brand to people who had never had this feeling before…There is even a Blue&Cream quietly rounding into it’s second year in Westport, CT where so many New York minded families yearn for the B&C experience they didnt know they were missing, and by being there they make Blue&Cream what it is. It’s the models who have been the face of our brand for over 15 years online, the most recent being two of my favorites of all times. One, Yvens Mendes (@slim_deal) I cast one nite at a Brooklyn Nets game and he’s now high in demand by many other brands, and the other Bebe Soloviev (@bebesoloviev ) that is the quintessential B&C NYC girl whose been a client and friend from the HAMPTONS since she was in grade school. The faces, the memories, the stores, the neighborhoods, the team, it’s what makes Blue&Cream “from New York”, before we even get to the clothing.
From this, I launch into our 2024 narrative, that Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.
2024 is here, the past is behind us, we move forward with the memories and the experiences, from a fashion perspective it’s a wealth of perspective on trends and forecasting. We always have our own unique style of retailing to offer, which after 20 years just can’t be beat. It’s a familiar face, a warm greeting, the feeling of returning to something intangibly familiar, and ultimately discovering something new. It’s our perspective that we share with our clients, and more and more each year we have organically developed, designed and have introduced our Made in New York Blue&Cream line and The Tile Club cashmere brand to our Friends&Family. So you can share Blue&Cream, “from New York”, with the world, at home and on your travels.
One thing I know after 20 years, is I’ll be seeing some of you when we least expect it, and others on that very same day like clockwork, that’s become a tradition.
I love it, I love Blue&Cream, I love our team and I love everyone who visits us. Happy New Year, let’s all make a positive impact in 2024.
